JamHub - the silent rehearsal studio

Vocal volume

Vocal volume

Postby toddmc » Mon Dec 14, 2009 8:33 pm

The one limitation I can think of for the Jam-Hub is that obviously the singer will be making acoustic noise as he sings/ screams/ shouts into the mic (particularly if you're in a metal band). Any suggestions for getting over this hurdle if you're after the truly "silent" rehearsal studio?
Other than turning the singer right up in the mix and having them sing at low volume, can't think of much else to get around the problem!
BTW- this is exactly the product I've been looking for since purchasing my electronic kit and guitar- thanks! :D

No doubt that headphones don't silence voices. Or acoustic drums! (We're still using them at my band's rehearsals, but not for long, I hope ;) .)The only recommendation that I can think of is to try to acoustically isolate the singer from the kids and neighbors using layers of heavy absorptive materials with air gaps between them. I've seen some great ideas out there for doing that sort of thing on the cheap. Here's a link to a Google search for 'cheap vocal booth'. Happy hunting!

Hope you get plugged into a JamHub soon! Keep us posted, ok?

You might try these as well:

Though I'm not sure how well it will knock down the sound. It won't kill off the low frequencies, I'm sure of that.

Some of your problems now or later could be headphone bleed into your microphone and these headphones will eliminate any bleed as long as you are wearing them around your ears. Also will allow you to use acoustic drums if everyone is using them either model.
I have them ., they work great. Just trying to help. Jam Hub requires headphones so why not use the best tool out there
No more mystery sounds in my mix.
