Vocal Effects for Use with the JamHub

Vocal Effects for Use with the JamHub

Hi everybody

I wanted to start this discussion because my Vocalist just bought the new VoiceTone Create XT pedal from T.C. Electronics for use with the Jamhub and for live use. And while the pedal does provide some really good vocal tones, I'm very disappointed with the user interface of this thing. It is very confusing to control which sound or patch is activated, switching through patches is a pain and tweaking the sound is even harder. It's as if they tried to simplify the controls and the interface, resulting in a confusing UI that doesn't provide you with enough options to customize your sound.

And you'd think, when they design a pedal like this with two stomp buttons, that it would be possible to cycle up and down through the patches using these buttons. Unfortunately, this is not the case. It might be good enough for studio use, but for live use, you need quick access to your presets - as a guitarist, I know this to be true :D

Had I known these things before hand, I probably would have recommended the singer of my band to try out the Boss Vocal Performer instead - as this lets you tweak pretty much everything in every preset and lets you cycle up and down through them using the two stomp pedals. Even if the mic preamps in that thing isn't as good as in the T.C. pedal, usability goes a long way...

So I thought I'd start up this topic so we could discuss what effects to use as a vocal performer using the JamHub. I've started out with a little "what not to use" recommendation... ;)

Great thread!

I must say that I've used the TC harmony pedal with good success. I stick to the presets though. I've never tried to tweak so I'm not a good person to speak about the ability to adjust, but the sound quality is good.

I've also used the vocal correct (shhhhh) with good results.

I'd love to hear more about the Boss pedal too. Anyone have one?

I agree, the sound quality of the Create XT pedal IS also very good. But I think it's a shame that you can't edit basic parameters like EQ'ing and so forth. There's just one "tone" button that gives you a small predefined change of the sound, but nothing you can edit yourself.

I've only read through the Boss pedal's manual and it seems to adress all of the issues I posted above, possibly at the cost of sound quality. But I'd also really like to hear from someone who uses it...
