Any plans for longer cabled SoleMix Remotes?

Postby Musicman247 » Thu Feb 18, 2010 1:56 pm

Hi. I am the leader of a church worship band interested in purchasing a GreenRoom. The stage where we rehearse is about 40 feet across, and our piano and drums are on opposite sides of the stage. Reading online I see that the length of the SoleMix Remote cable is about 10 feet, which would mean if we decide to use the GreenRoom either my drummer or my pianist would have to get up from their instrument to change their mix.

Are there any plans to introduce a longer cabled version of the SoleMix Remote, or maybe an extension cable? Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Musicman247,

At this time we do not have plans to release a longer remote cable. Using the JamHub in the way you are is effective but not really our main goal. You can however guy a longer display port cable and a female to female adapter an lengthen the run of the cable. I have tested this setup with a SHORT display port cable and it works.

Keep in mind, doing this may result in more noise in the system (that's one LONG 21 wire cable ... and a cable acts like an antenna) and you will have some signal loss over that distance.

Let us know if it works (if you try it),

Thank you for your fast response! Just made my purchase of the GreenRoom and an extra remote and am looking forward to receiving it!

Your response answered another question I had, which was "what kind of connection does the remote use?" I think what I will end up doing for now is moving our piano a little closer to the middle of the stage and put the GreenRoom in the middle. Later I may go with an extension for one side or the other, depending on how it's working out.

I'm interested in seeing how our practices go when everyone can hear everyone else :)
