Sneak Preview

Postby SladeGT40 » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:44 am

I've now had the opportunity to setup and experiment once with my new Tourbus. I spent an evening with my guitarist getting things dialed in and learning my way around. I will post a more in-depth review once i've gotten the chance to implement the notes from last session. However, I was so excited at the quality of the recording that i just had to hop onto soundcloud and give everyone a sneak peak :).

This song is called Burn the Night Away. http://soundcloud.com/sladegt40/burn-the-night-away

The only question i have is the appearance of what seems to be a pocketwatch in the background. not sure of its source. maybe it wont be there next time.

Nice! Sounds full and well-balanced even on my laptop speakers. I could hear the 'stopwatch' at the beginning when things were very quiet, but it was completely masked once the music got going. It seemed to be coming from the left side, FWIW...

Looking forward to reading your in-depth review...

Thanks chuck. It is just from the left side. It's more apparent in the other two songs we did.

Okay so not to jinx myself, but here's to hoping that tonight's jam session is both fruitful and without TD9 metronome clicky.

I've edited kits in vdrumlib to make sure that ambience and overdriven floor toms are gone by the wayside. I will take steve's advice from the vdrums forums to heart (turn down the headphone output and up the input trim). I'm hoping to record drums, guitars and vocals tonight with all of the tricks and tips i've learned from this forum.

My full review should be up soon.

Hmmm......my band cannot seem to find a bass player. We are out of Fredericksburg, VA.

I play bass, but I'm not a bass player. ;) I play it with a pick! Oh, and I'm not in the DC area.

More updates. Thanks to steve's note from the vdrums forums i've corrected the metronome problem by turning down the vdrums ever so slightly. still working out the internal mixer to provide a balanced mix as a standalone instrument. Thought i'd take the opportunity to post another song. http://soundcloud.com/sladegt40/blackout for lack of any formal title yet, this song is called Blackout. different lineup than my last posted link, and a different style. i continue to be amazed by the transparency of this product. Now if only i could find a few more people to play with, i'd be able to get a full song up here.

From a guitarist's point of view, I'm really not diggin' the guitar sound... The clean sound could do with a bit more gain, chorus and maybe some delay. Once he goes over to the distorted sound, It sounds like 10 bees in a can... Just my 2 cents.

It's a really nice riff though, I really like the "melody".
